Over 332,000 tourists visit Ha Noi during Lunar New Year holiday

VGP - The capital city of Ha Noi handled 332,000 tourists, including 32,000 foreigners, during the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday from January 21 – 26, according to the municipal Department of Tourism.

The tourism sector earned VND 1 trillion (US$42.6 million) in revenue.

The number of tourists visiting key monuments, museums, parks, ecological zones, and resorts in the city increased dramatically.

Van Mieu (the Temple of Literature) - Quoc Tu Giam (the first university in Viet Nam) and the Huong pagoda received about 80,000 visitors each.

Meanwhile, the Thang Long Imperial Citadel, the Special National Relic of Co Loa, Duong Lam ancient village – the Son Tay ancient citadel received 19,700; 18,000 and 15,000 visitors, respectively.

During the holiday, a series of art performances and cultural programs were held at relic sites and tourist attractions, while many new tourism products introduced to attract visitors.

This year, Ha Noi's tourism sector has set the goal of welcoming three million international visitors, double the figure in 2022, as part of the Ha Noi Department of Tourism's 2023 plan. 

In 2023, the capital's tourism industry will achieve a comprehensive growth in scale and quality of services, quantity, and quality of tourists toward sustainability.

To achieve this goal, Ha Noi focuses on implementing a plan to improve the quality of tourism products, tourism destinations associated with heritage - relics, and handicraft villages in districts and towns with an emphasis on four main itineraries, including those from the city center to Bat Trang pottery village of Gia Lam District, Huong Son of My Duc District, the districts of Thach That, Quoc Oai, Son Tay, and Ba Vi.

Besides, more night-time products will be introduced, including renewing activities in the pedestrian spaces of Hoan Kiem Lake and its vicinity, the ones around the Son Tay Ancient Citadel, in the southern urban area of Ring Road 3 in Hoang Mai District and around Thien Quang Lake in Hai Ba Trung District and its surroundings.

The city continues cooperating with travel businesses and places of interest, including relics and heritage destinations, to build night-time and experience tourism products based on traditional values./.
