Hoan Kiem – Thang Long Imperial Citadel e-bus route launched
VGP - An electric bus route linking Hoan Kiem to Thang Long Imperial Citadel was launched on February 5 to serve the sightseeing needs of both locals and tourists who wish to explore the rich heritage sites of Ha Noi capital city.
The route linking Hoan Kiem lake in the very heart of the city with the historic Thang Long Imperial Citadel is a joint effort of the Hoan Kiem district People's Committee, the Dong Xuan JSC and the Thang Long – Ha Noi Heritage Conservation Centre.
It demonstrates the determination of Ha Noi city and the dedication of businesses to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, protect the environment, and stimulate commercial activities and local tourism economy.
The route, with 20 operating e-buses, will traverse through iconic streets such as Dinh Tien Hoang, Hang Dao, Hang Ngang, Hang Buom, Ma May, Hang Bac, Hang Ngang, Hang Duong, Dong Xuan, Hang Giay, Quan Thanh, Nguyen Bieu, and end at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel.
On the return journey, it will run from Thang Long Imperial Citadel through Hoang Dieu, Hoang Van Thu, Hung Vuong, Phan Dinh Phung, Hang Cot, Hang Luoc, Hang Ma, Hang Chieu, Dao Duy Tu, Ma May, Hang Bac, Hang Bo, Luong Van Can, Le Thai To, Hang Khay, and Dinh Tien Hoang.
Earlier, the Department of Transport of Ha Noi proposed to the municipal People's Committee to allow the pilot use of electric buses for passenger transport service in a 12-month period on nine existing bus routes whose contracts are set to expire in 2024.
Accordingly, nine bus routes will be piloted in the first quarter of this year, including routes 05 (Linh Dam Urban Area - Phu Dien); 15 (Gia Lam Bus station - Pho Ni); 17 (Long Bien - Noi Bai); 36 (Yen Phu - Linh Dam urban area); 39 (Nghia Do park - Tu Hiep); 43 (Thong Nhat park - Dong Anh township); 47A (National Economics University - Kieu Ky; 54 (Long Bien - Bac Ninh); and 59 (Dong Anh township - Vietnam National University of Agriculture).
Ha Noi is taking steps to complete the "greening up" of local bus services 15 years ahead of the roadmap designed by the Government, which aims to convert buses from using petrol to green energy (electric or CNG) in Ha Noi by 2050, according to Vice Chairman of the Ha Noi municipal People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen./.
