Lieutenant General Nguyen Quoc Duyet, Commander of the Ha Noi Capital Command, signed a proposal submitted to the Ha Noi People's Committee, suggesting that fireworks be limited to a single location in Hoan Kiem district.

This reduction is intended to focus efforts on supporting those affected by the devastation caused by Typhoon Yagi and contributing to the recovery of heavily impacted areas.

The fireworks display at Hoan Kiem Lake is scheduled to take place from 9:30 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. on October 10.

The number of fireworks shells planned for this event will remain the same as outlined in the city's original June 2024 plan.

It would mark the first time in 10 years that the capital city launches fireworks to celebrate its liberation day.

Earlier, the initial plan set 30 fireworks displays across 30 districts and towns, including one high-altitude show combined with low-altitude fireworks and pyrotechnics, eight displays featuring both high and low-altitude fireworks, and 22 low-altitude fireworks shows.

Typhoon Yagi made landfall on Viet Nam's northern coast on September 7, making it the strongest storm to hit Viet Nam in three decades. It passed through Ha Noi later that day.

The storm caused significant human and material losses, with 299 deaths and 34 people still missing across the northern region. Heavy rains triggered widespread flooding in 20 out of 25 northern provinces, affecting more than 70,000 households.

In Ha Noi, Yagi and its aftermath led to four deaths, 23 injuries, the uprooting of over 40,000 trees, and severe flooding in multiple areas, displacing thousands of residents./.
