Ha Noi promotes cooperation with Singapore in urban planning, innovation, and smart cities

At the meeting, both sides agreed that Ha Noi and Singapore share deep and close ties, as well as many similarities in their development orientations and priorities, creating significant potential for expanding cooperation.

Vu affirmed that following the elevation of Viet Nam-Singapore relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, cooperation between Ha Noi and Singaporean partners has continued to make positive progress.

Regarding future directions, the city leader noted that the publication of the Ha Noi Capital Master Plan, with a 100-year vision, would create substantial opportunities for cooperation, particularly with Singaporean businesses, organizations, and research institutes possessing expertise and experience in urban planning, development, and governance.

Highlighting Singapore's experience in building an innovation ecosystem, he said Ha Noi has identified science, technology, and innovation as important drivers of its new growth model, based on the implementation of Politburo Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW.

In this area, the Ha Noi People's Committee and the National University of Singapore (NUS) have recently signed a Joint Statement on cooperation to promote an innovation ecosystem based on the BLOCK71 model. At the same time, efforts are underway to study and develop a new-generation Viet Nam-Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) model in Ha Noi.

These initiatives represent foundational areas of cooperation in which Vu expressed his hope that the Singaporean Ambassador would provide support and work closely with Ha Noi to ensure their effective implementation in accordance with international standards.

Ha Noi also hopes to further promote traditional areas of cooperation, such as human resource training and capacity building in governance. Through these efforts, the two sides can strengthen the exchange of experience and enhance the capabilities of officials in urban management and development, he noted.

Singh, for his part, shared his positive impressions of Ha Noi and his experience working in Viet Nam.

Expressing his appreciation for Ha Noi's development vision, the Ambassador said that Singapore has numerous agencies and organizations specializing in infrastructure development, while also bringing together a broad ecosystem of businesses operating in the urban development sector.

With many years of experience in developing smart cities, Singapore has been sharing its expertise with Ha Noi, including the application of technology to traffic management, flood control, and urban management, shared the diplomat.

The Ambassador also shared some challenges encountered in implementing cooperation projects in the capital, while putting forward several proposals and aspirations from Singaporean businesses and partners. These initiatives are intended to strengthen connections and promote cooperation between the two sides in the period ahead.

Vu expressed his confidence that the Ambassador would continue to make positive contributions to elevating relations between Ha Noi and Singapore, helping turn cooperation initiatives and proposals into deeper, more substantive partnerships with concrete and practical results./.
