Work starts for Ha Noi's Ring Road 3 extension
VGP – Ha Noi’s People Committe has started work on expanding Ring Road 3’s Mai Dich –Thang Long bridge section.
The project is estimated to cost more than VND 3.1 trillion (US$137.8 million).
The extended road, which will be 5.5 km long, runs from Mai Dich intersection in Cau Giay district to Km5 500 on Thang Long bridge.
Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Ha Noi municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung said that the expansion of the Ring Road was of significance to facilitate the capital city’s traffic flow as the Ring Road helps connect Ha Noi with the northern, north-eastern localities and Noi Bai airport.
The construction will also help reduce traffic congestion at Nguyen Hoang Ton, Co Nhue and Hoang Quoc Viet crossroads, he added.
The road will also move forward the transport ministry’s plan to build a bridge from Mai Dich to Thang Long bridge, which will wrap up Ring Road 3 construction as planned until 2030, with a vision towards 2050, he said.
The road will have six lanes and five walking bridges with a total investment of approximately VND3,113billion (US$139.5 million), of which VND1,824 billion (US$81.7 million) from the city’s budget was spent for site clearance.
