The city to host second National Ethnic Minority Congress
VGP - The second National Ethnic Representatives’ Meeting will officially kick off in Ha Noi on November 10 with 250 official representatives on behalf of 68,000 ethnic people in attendance.

The two-day meeting with the theme “Community of ethnic minorities in Ha Noi join hands for a prosperous, civilized and modern city” will be the opportunity for representatives from all ethnic groups, to gather in one place, exchange cultures and learn from each other.
During the meeting, the representatives will review the past activities relating to the government’s ethnic policies carried out at local and government levels. Initiatives and changes to current ethnic policies to help the poor and the minorities will also be proposed.
It also aims to review performance of the Committee for Ethnic Minorities from 2009 to 2014 and set orientation for the next five years, along with recognizing contribution of ethnic minority groups and honor outstanding individuals as well as organizations.
The capital city covers an area of 3,347.7km2 with population of nearly 7.2 million. There are around 68,000 ethnic people, accounting for 0.9% of city's population, living in all districts and towns of the city.
The largest ethnic group is Muong (78.5%), followed by Tay (8.8) and Nung (2.9%).
