Part of Noi Bai-Lao Cai highway opened to traffic

VGP – The first segment of the Noi Bai-Lao Cai highway, linking Ha Noi and the northern province of Vinh Phuc, opened to traffic on December 27.

Attending the ceremony, Deputy PM Hoang Trung Hai valued the inauguration of the highway’s first part as creating momentum for socio-economic and tourism development in northern midlands and northwestern region and easing traffic pressure at the section between the route to Noi Bai International Airport and National Highway No.2 crossing Phuc Yen town, Vinh Yen city, Vinh Phuc province.
 
He asked localities along the Ha Noi-Lao Cai Highway to complete site clearance, resettlement and public facilities’ movement, as well as resolve local residents’ complaints and support the investors to ensure the project’s schedule.
 
The Ha Noi-Lao Cai Highway is the major transport project in the north with total investment of US$1.25 billion, which will helps halve travel tome from Hanoi to the touristy city of Sa Pa and Lao Cai International Border Gate.
 
The 245km highway, crossing five provinces and cities, will have hundreds of tunnels and 18 crossroads built, which are planned for completion in 2014.
