Mayor receives outgoing U.S. Ambassador to Viet Nam

VGP – Chairman of the Ha Noi People’s Committee Chu Ngoc Anh hosted a reception for outgoing U.S. Ambassador to Viet Nam Daniel Kritenbrink on August 8 in Ha Noi.

The U.S. Ambassador took the occasion to announce a plan to build a new embassy building which will represent a symbol of bilateral relations between Viet Nam and the U.S.

Ambassador Kritenbrink said the local authorities' agreement on the project is one of his proud achievements during his term in Viet Nam.

He was convinced that the new headquarter would be one of the most beautiful embassies in the world, which will clearly demonstrate the partnership and friendship which the U.S. has built with Viet Nam.

Kritenbrink mentioned the second USA – DPRK Summit in 2019 in Ha Noi as a showcase for the progress in Viet Nam – U.S. relations and an opportunity to promote the image of Viet Nam’s capital city among international friends.

The Ambassador also highlighted the significance of Viet Nam’s donation of medical equipment and facemasks for American people during the COVID-19 pandemic. 

In reply, Chairman of the Ha Noi People’s Committee Chu Ngoc Anh thanked Kritenbrink for his efforts in improving the two countries’ relations, adding there has been strong progress over the years.

The Chairman Anh hoped that the outgoing Ambassador would further contribute to the two sides' bilateral relations./.
