Local authorities determined to tackle environmental pollution

VGP – The local authorities of Ha Noi have decided to classify 128 craft villages in an effort to handle pollution; protect the environment in handicraft villages and rural areas and implement Resolution 11 on environmental protection.

The Ha Noi municipal People’s Committee assigned the Department of Natural Resources and Environment to work with districts to implement the task.

In 2019, the Department categorized 128 trade villages. In 2020, 107 trade villages will be classified in terms of environmental pollution in accordance with Circular 31/2016/BTNMT. 

The Department was asked to build and implement a communication plan to raise public awareness of environmental protection in handicraft villages in the 2018-2020 period; perfect mechanisms and policies on the field. 

Earlier, the People’s Committee directed the implementation of large-scale sewage treatment projects including Cau Nga wastewater treatment plant, another sewage treatment plant in Son Dong commune (Hoai Duc district), and Phung Xa sewage treatment system. 

In addition, the People’s Committee asked relevant departments and sectors to mobilize social engagement in settlement of environmental pollution in trade villages at Quoc Oai, Me Linh, Hoai Duc and Thuong Tin districts with an expected expenditure of VND 569 billion and invest in sewage treatment at 48 industrial complexes on trade village development at Phuc Tho, Thach That, Quoc Oai, Hoai Duc, Thanh Oai, Thuong Tin, Ung Hoa, Phu Xuyen, Chuong My, Thanh Tri and Ha Dong districts with a total investment of  over VND 8,983 billion./.
