Jose Marti's 162nd birth anniversary marked
VGP - The Viet Nam-Cuba Friendship Association (VCFA) and the Cuban Embassy held a floral tribute to Jose Marti at his statue at Tao Dan Garden in the capital city on January 28 on the occasion of his 162nd birthday.
Addressing the event, Vice Chairman of the VCFA, Ha Noi branch Tran Trong Hanh said the floral tributes to Jose Marti aims to commemorate the national hero’s contributions to the Viet Nam-Cuba relations as well as to strengthen the time-honoured friendship and solidarity between the two countries.
Cuba Ambassador Herminio Lopez Diaz recalled Jose Marti life and work. He highlighted that in the current period, Cuba wishes to learn lessons from Viet Nam’s economic renovation process to update its economic model.
Jose Marti was born in La Habana on January 28, 1853. He was a prominent thinker and cultural figure, and unyielding revolutionary who made significant contributions to Cuba’s national independence in the late 19th century. He also laid a foundation for the traditional friendship between Viet Nam and Cuba.
The event was jointly held by the Viet Nam-Cuba Friendship Association and the Cuban Embassy in Viet Nam.
