Mr. Chu made the point on November 3 at a meeting of the Steering Committee on COVID-19 Prevention and Control.

Deputy Director of Health Nguyen Cao Cuong reported that Ha Noi is coping with seven new clusters including O Cho Dua street at Dong Da district, Linh Nam street at Hoang Mai district, Le Duc Tho street at Nam Tu Liem district, An Khanh at Hoai Duc district, Ninh Hiep at Gia Lam district, Sai Son and Quoc Oai town, Quoc Oai district, Bach Tru hamlet, Tien Thang commune, Me Linh district.

So far, Ha Noi has administered over 9.7 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines, including 6.04 million first doses for 92.4% of over 18-year-old population or 69.5% of total population and 3.7 million second doses for 56.8% of adult population or 46.3% of total population.

Deputy Director of the Ha Noi Department of Education and Training Tran The Cuong reported that on October 31, the local People’s Committee agreed to resume physical studies for students of grades 5, 6, 9, 10, and 12 living in 18 suburban districts (labeled “green and yellow zones”) within 14 days by November 8. The rest of students will keep studying online. Kindergarteners will continue to stay at home.

Schools are requested to ensure physical distance, cut the number of students attending each lesson and teachers must be fully vaccinated. Unvaccinated teachers are prohibited from physical classes.

In the short term, the city will vaccinate students of grade 12 (aged 17), then others of grades 11 and 10.

Addressing the meeting, the Vice Chairman warned that Ha Noi copes with high risks of disease spreading due to high number of travellers and returnees and the lack of awareness of people after getting vaccinated.

Hence, he underlined the necessity to properly control and manage returnees from other localities in the path to safely adapt to the pandemic.

He noticed that the city will flexibly adjust time of school reopening in line with the number of local infections to be recorded./.
