The plan was announced yesterday in Ha Noi at a meeting on communications and information tasks in the first half and missions in the rest of the year.

The Department reported that they had worked with the local Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, and Ha Noi-based telecoms operator Viettel to install digital receivers in poor and near-poor households.

As of July 4, 33,958 out of 34,409 poor households were supported to access DTT service at 30 districts, suburban districts, and towns.

In 2016, the department would deploy underground telecoms and electricity cable systems at 18 streets, which will see the engagement of the private sector.

According to a TV digitalization plan approved by the PM in December 2011, five cities under the central authority will switch from analog to DTT./.
