Local handicrafts reach 89 international markets
VGP - Ha Noi’s handicraft products have gained a foothold in 89 countries and territories, with traditional export markets including the U.S., the European Union, Japan, Taiwan (China), the Republic of Korea, mainland China and Hong Kong (China).

Major export items include rattan and bamboo products, sedge and wickerware, fine wooden furniture and handicrafts, ceramics, lacquerware and textiles. With increasingly diverse designs and improved quality, products from local craft villages are gradually enhancing their competitiveness in both domestic and international markets.
Ha Noi currently has 337 recognized craft villages, traditional craft establishments and traditional craft villages across 126 communes and wards. They produce a wide range of goods, including garments, ceramics, textiles, embroidery, rattan and bamboo products, wooden furniture, mechanical products, and processed agricultural and food products.
The 337 craft villages generate an estimated average annual revenue of more than VND25 trillion (US$996.45 million). Bat Trang ceramic village alone records annual revenue of around VND2–3 trillion, while Son Dong wood carving village generates nearly VND700 billion and Kim Lan ceramic village VND500–700 billion.
The craft villages also provide regular employment for more than 250,000 workers, with average monthly incomes ranging from VND7–8 million. In some villages, including Bat Trang and Hong Van, annual incomes can reach around VND180 million per worker.
Ha Noi's extensive network of craft villages not only contributes significantly to local economic development and job creation but also helps preserve and promote the capital's traditional handicrafts and cultural heritage./.
