Ha Noi–Quang Ninh high-speed railway to put into operation in 2028
VGP - Viet Nam officially commenced construction of a high-speed railway connecting Hanoi and Quang Ninh, a project expected to cut travel time between the two destinations to just 23 minutes.

The 120.2-kilometre route will pass through four localities—Ha Noi, Bac Ninh, Hai Phong and Quang Ninh. It will feature double tracks with a standard gauge of 1,435 mm and be fully electrified.
Total investment is estimated at over US$5.6 billion, excluding land clearance costs. The project is being developed by VinSpeed High Speed Rail Investment and Development JSC, a subsidiary of Vingroup.
Designed for a maximum speed of 350 km/h, trains will operate at reduced speeds of up to 120 km/h within Hanoi to accommodate urban conditions.
Once operational, the railway is expected to shorten travel time between Hanoi and Quang Ninh from more than two hours to approximately 23 minutes.

The route will start at Co Loa Station in Dong Anh Commun
The line will begin at Co Loa Station in Dong Anh Commune, located within the Viet Nam Exposition Centre, and terminate at Ha Long Station in Tuan Chau Ward.

Perspective of Co Loa Station
Along the route, three intermediate stations will be built in Gia Binh, Ninh Xa and Yen Tu. A depot for maintenance and operations will be located at the Ha Long terminus.

Perspective of Ha Long Station, Quang Ninh Province
The project will utilize next-generation high-speed trains and advanced signalling systems provided by Siemens Mobility, with provisions for technology transfer during implementation.
The railway is scheduled to begin commercial operations in 2028./.
