Deputy Secretary of the Ha Noi Party Committee and Chairman of the Ha Noi People’s Committee Vu Dai Thang hosts a reception for Israeli Ambassador to Viet Nam Yaron Mayer, Ha Noi, August 4, 2026

Vu hailed the Ambassador's important role as a bridge between the two countries, noting his significant contributions to promoting friendly cooperation between Viet Nam and Israel in general, and between Ha Noi and Israeli partners in particular.

Over the years, Viet Nam–Israel relations have developed positively and substantively. In particular, according to the Chairman, fields such as science and technology, innovation, education and training have become important pillars of the shared agenda.

Ha Noi highly values the role of the Israeli Embassy in connecting business communities, implementing joint research programs, and supporting the training of high-quality human resources.

The Israeli Embassy has also worked closely with the capital city's specialized agencies to organize numerous cultural, artistic and educational exchange activities, contributing to strengthening people-to-people ties and mutual understanding between the two countries and creating a solid foundation for sustainable cooperation.

Mayer, for his part, expressed his appreciation for Ha Noi's goodwill and support throughout his tenure.

Although the two sides had achieved a number of successes, there remained considerable potential for further cooperation between Israel and Ha Noi, he noted, adding that Israel stands ready to share its experience and technology with the city, particularly in high-tech agriculture, education and innovation.

A major milestone in bilateral relations in recent years has been the entry into force of the Viet Nam–Israel Free Trade Agreement. Together with the launch of direct air routes, the agreement has created an important legal and infrastructure framework for promoting trade, investment and tourism between the two sides. The Ambassador expressed his hope that building on these favorable conditions, the Ha Noi authorities would continue to create optimal conditions for Israeli businesses and partners to undertake cooperation activities in the capital.

He took the occasion to extend an invitation to Ha Noi's leaders to attend major international forums and events in Israel on science and technology, cybersecurity and urban development in the coming period. These events would provide Ha Noi with opportunities to gain direct access to some of the world's most advanced technological trends.

According to Chairman Vu, the current foundation for cooperation would open up many new opportunities in areas where Israel has particular strengths.

Ha Noi is currently undergoing a transformation of its growth model driven by knowledge and technology. Therefore, cooperation in areas such as artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, smart cities and high-tech agriculture is among the city's top priorities.

In addition, digital transformation has been identified as a key task in building an efficient government and a modern society, he said, underlining the city's desire to further expand cooperation in research and development (R&D), human-resource training, and the networking of businesses from both sides.

Learning from Israel's innovation ecosystem model would help Ha Noi unlock its intellectual resources and generate new momentum for the capital's development, said the host.

Ha Noi's specialized agencies would work closely with the Israeli Embassy to translate the agreed areas of cooperation into concrete action, stated Vu.

The ultimate goal is to deepen relations between Ha Noi and Israeli partners, making them increasingly substantive, effective and mutually beneficial, while delivering tangible benefits to the people and business communities of both countries, he added./.
