Ha Noi to host UN Convention signing on cybercrime next month
VGP - For the first time, a United Nations treaty will bear the name of a Vietnamese location. The “Ha Noi Convention” adopted by consensus, is a milestone in global efforts to combat cybercrime.
The signing ceremony of Ha Noi Convention is scheduled on October 25-26, 2025 in the Captial city of Ha Noi
On December 24 in New York, the United Nations General Assembly unanimously adopted the UN Convention on Cybercrime.
Under Article 64 of the Convention, it will be open for signature in Ha Noi in 2025, officially titled the "Ha Noi Convention".
The adoption of the Convention by the United Nations General Assembly in December 2024 and the hosting of this Signing Ceremony in Hà Nội stand as a powerful testament to the shared responsibility of all nations in safeguarding cyberspace as the common asset of humankind.
On Monday, State President Luong Cuong sended a message to welcome world leaders and international partners to the capital city for the signing of the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime, calling the event a historic milestone in global solidarity to safeguard cyberspace and strengthen the rule of law.
As the host of the signing ceremony, Viet Nam hopes the event will mark a new milestone in reinforcing multilateralism and advancing global efforts against cyber threats./.
