Ha Noi records robust GRDP growth of 7.87% in Q1
VGP - The gross regional domestic product (GRDP) expanded by an estimated 7.87 percent year-on-year in the first quarter of 2026, marking one of the highest growth rates in recent years, according to the Ha Noi Statistics Office.

During the period, the agro-forestry-fishery sector grew by 3.73 percent, contributing 0.09 percentage points to the overall expansion.
The industry and construction sector posted a rise of 7.55 percent, contributing 1.33 percentage points. Industrial production maintained a positive trajectory from the outset of the year, as enterprises swiftly resumed operations after the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday to meet both domestic and export demand.
Within the sector, industrial added value increased by 7.52 percent, contributing 0.97 percentage points to GRDP growth. Manufacturing and processing rose by 7.08 percent, electricity production and distribution surged by 15.85 percent, while water supply, waste and wastewater treatment expanded by 7.98 percent.
Meanwhile, construction activity grew by 7.62 percent year-on-year, contributing 0.36 percentage points. The city has stepped up implementation of its 2026 public investment plan, prioritizing key infrastructure and transport projects to drive growth. Progress in public investment disbursement and site clearance has also helped attract private capital along major transport corridors, creating an important short-term growth impetus.
As of March 31, total development investment expenditure was estimated at approximately VND24 trillion (US$911 million), equivalent to 19.07 percent of the annual plan—three times higher than the figure recorded in the same period last year.
The service sector remained the main growth driver, expanding by 8.21 percent and contributing 5.74 percentage points—the largest share to overall GRDP growth. Authorities and businesses have intensified efforts to stimulate consumption, while retail systems and e-commerce platforms rolled out promotions and incentives to boost demand.
Taxes less subsidies on products rose by 7.12 percent, contributing 0.71 percentage points.
In the first quarter, the GRDP structure comprised agriculture, forestry and fisheries at 2.16 percent; industry and construction at 17.77 percent; services at 70.07 percent; and taxes less subsidies on products at 10 percent. The corresponding figures for the same period last year were 2.05 percent, 17.83 percent, 69.99 percent and 10.13 percent, respectively./.
