Foreign arrivals to capital city soars by rise 22% in Jan-Sept period
VGP - Ha Noi welcomed an estimated 27.5 million visitors in the first nine months of 2026, up 6.2 percent year on year, official statistics showed.
Total tourism revenue was estimated at VND 113.2 trillion (US$4.3 billion), an increase of 13.3 percent.
Deputy Director of the Ha Noi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Tran Trung Hieu said, the capital's tourism sector continued to post positive results in the third quarter and the first nine months of 2026.
Around 6.67 million foreign arrivals visited the city, up 22 percent, including around 4.7 million staying visitors. Domestic visitors totalled 20.9 million, up 2 percent.
In addition to the Department of Tourism's figures on total visitor arrivals to Ha Noi, statistics from accommodation establishments also recorded substantial growth.
In the first nine months of 2026, accommodation establishments served 6.874 million visitors, up 24.3 percent year on year. Of these, international visitors reached 4.763 million, up 25.7 percent, while domestic visitors rose by 21.2 percent to 2.111 million.
In the third quarter alone, accommodation establishments served approximately 2.24 million visitors, up 2.4 percent from the second quarter and 18.7 percent from the same period last year. The number of domestic visitors reached 776,000, up 14.3 percent year on year, while international visitors reached 1.464 million, up 21.3 percent.
In September, accommodation establishments served an estimated 500,000 international visitors, up 1.5 percent from the previous month and 18.8 percent year on year.
The strong growth in the international market was a notable feature of Ha Noi's tourism performance during the first nine months of 2026./.
