VGP - Ha Noi welcomed about 4.45 million foreign tourists in the first nine months of this year, representing a year-on-year increase of 40.8 percent, according to the city Department Tourism.

The city is about to fulfill its yearly target of serving 5 million international visitors. The peak season for international visitors to Viet Nam is usually from October to March every year.

In September, the capital city received 2.16 million visitors, up 6.1 percent year-on-year including 510,600 foreign arrivals, a surge of 32 percent over the same period last year.

The city's total tourism revenue valued VND 8.66 trillion (US$351.6 million) last month, up 12.8 percent year-on-year.

In the January-September period, the capital city served 21.12 million visitors, a rise of 11.7 percent compared to the same period in 2023, with total revenue estimated at VND81.93 trillion, up 18.5 percent year-on-year.

In September, which had a four-day National Day holiday, hotels across the city reported an occupation rate of 64.3 percent, up 6.73 percent from the same period last year.

Since the beginning of this year, hotel occupancy rate was estimated at 62.6 percent, a year-on-year rise of 1.6 percent.

The department said that in the rest of the year, the city will promote new tourism products such as adventure sports tourism, experiential tourism, and virtual reality tourism. In addition, it will develop MICE tourism in locations with advantages in leisure and golf tourism associated with hosting cultural, sports, political, social events, major national and international festivals.

Besides, the department said that it will coordinate with localities and agencies to develop a system of typical rural tourism destinations and agro-tourism models, as well as community-based tourism and craft village tourism.

Earlier, Ha Noi received 18.9 million tourists in the first nine months of 2023, including 3.2 million of foreign visitors./.
