CPI in November decreases by 0.46 percent compared to previous month

VGP - Ha Noi's Consumer Price Index (CPI) in November 2022 decreased by 0.46 percent compared to the last month, according to the Municipal Bureau of Statistics.

Specifically, in November, there were two out of 11 commodity groups experiencing a decrease in CPI compared to the previous month. 

Noticeablly, the education group dropped sharply by 8.72 percent, reducing the overall CPI by 0.69 percent, because public preschool and general education institutions continued to reduce tuition fees for the 2022-2023 school year.

Food and food service groups decreased by 0.28 percent, reducing the overall CPI by 0.09 percent, as the price of food items decreased by 0.5 percent fresh. Dried and processed vegetables were in the harvest season, so the price dropped by 3.27 percent.

Also, nine out of 11 CPI commodity groups increased by 2.44 percent compared to the previous month, raising the overall CPI by 0.24 percent. Following two rounds of price adjustments, on November 1 and November 11, 2022, the average fuel price increased by 5.61 percent compared to the previous month.

Prices of housing, electricity, water, fuel and construction materials rose by 0.29 percent, increasing CPI by 0.06 percent, due to a 4.67 percent growth in gas prices and a 7 percent rise in kerosene prices.

The garments, hats, footwear, equipment, and household appliances also increased by 0.23 percent. The beverage and tobacco group increased by 0.21 percent. The culture, entertainment and tourism group rose by 0.2 percent, and the remaining groups slightly grew CPI from 0.04 percent - 0.05 percent.

November CPI of the whole country increased by 0.39 percent compared to the previous month, mainly due to the price hikes of petrol and oil on the global market./.
