COVID-19 claims over 500 lives in Ha Noi

VGP - The fourth wave of COVID-19 resurgence which broke out on April 27, 2021 has claimed 506 deaths, according to the Ha Noi Steering Committee on COVID-19 Prevention and Control on January 25.

Ha Noi detects 14 cases of Omicron variant including three imported cases and one local infection

So far, the city recorded 69,075 active patients, including 142 admitted to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases, 223 guarded at the Ha Noi Medical University Hospital, 3,394 at local hospitals, 745 at field hospitals, and 4,956 at district-level medical facilities. In addition, 59,615 others had their health monitored at home. 

The Ministry of Health reported that 1,227 patients in hospitals suffered mild or asymptomatic conditions. The city had 2,200 medium ill patients and 691 critically ill patients. Specifically, nearly 600 patients required oxygen, 80 needed ventilators, and four others were treated with ECMO. 

As of January 21, Ha Noi was positioned at Level 2 (yellow risk zone) of disease transmission in general. However, four districts namely Gia Lam, Nam Tu Liem, Hoang Mai, and Chuong My remained at Level 3 (orange zone). The rest of 26 districts were at Level 2. 

Over 14.5 million doses of vaccines had been administered in Ha Noi including more than 2.1 million booster shots.  

Deputy Director of the Health Department Vu Cao Cuong reported that Ha Noi has detected 14 cases of Omicron variant including three imported cases and one local infection. Hence, the city is facing risks of Omicron transmission in the community./.
