At a meeting of the Steering Committee on COVID-19 Prevention and Control on May 21, Chairman Chu said the capital is dealing with four chains of infections and a large number of people who had contacts with COVID-19 patients (known as F1) in other localities.

He underlined the necessity to keep vigilance on high-risk areas and ensure personal safety for voters and officials at polling stations.

Since April 29 when the fourth wave of infections broke out, Ha Noi has detected 97 cases at 18 districts and towns.

The Department of Health also collected swabs of returnees from industrial parks in Bac Ninh (425) and Bac Giang (1,639). So far, none of positive cases have been recorded. However, disease transmission rates in the two northern provinces remained complicated as the number of infections is on the rise (618 cases in Bac Giang and 361 others in Bac Ninh). Meanwhile, there are a large number of laborers residing in Ha Noi who work for industrial parks in Bac Giang or Bac Ninh province. These people pose a high risk of disease transmission for the city.

In addition, although the Tan Trieu facility of the National Cancer Hospital (K Hospital) has been locked down, new infections have been confirmed in the hospital./.
