ASEAN Women Entrepreneurs Forum opens in Ha Noi

Attendance at the event included representatives of the party and State, ministries and embassies, the ASEAN Secretariat, as well as a host of international organisations, business associations and more than 300 women entrepreneurs.

Speaking at the forum, Vice State President Nguyen Thi Doan said the formation of ASEAN later this year would bring with it more opportunities and challenges for women business leaders.

To best take advantage of the opportunities presented, women in the business community should be innovative, creative and analytical with foresight to lead the nation into a new era of regional and global integration, Doan said.

In order to promote the role of women entrepreneurs, Viet Nam is working to complete the legal framework and policies on gender equality and women's economic empowerment, said Minister of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, Pham Thi Hai Chuyen.

This is the first time that the Viet Nam Women Entrepreneurs Council has organised the event and it has been timed to coincide with the International Women's Day holiday.
