15 localities confirm 42 cases linked to leading COVID-19 hospital facility

VGP – As of mid-Thursday, 42 COVID-19 infection cases were reported to have linked to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Kim Chung commune in Ha Noi, according to the Ha Noi Center for Disease Control (CDC).

Earlier, a doctor at the facility was tested positive to SARS-CoV-2. 

Of the 42 cases, nine were founded five districts and towns in Ha Noi, namely Dong Anh, Soc Son, Nam Tu Liem, Son Tay and Ba Dinh. 

The rest of 33 cases were detected in 14 other provinces and cities including Yen Bai, Vinh Phuc, Thai Binh, Son La, Quang Ninh, Phu Tho, Nam Dinh, Bac Giang, Bac Ninh, Hai Duong, Hai Phong, Hoa Binh, Hung Yen and Lang Son.

The Ministry of Health directed a lockdown for the facility from 8 AM on May 5. 

The facility also issued an urgent notice to patients and their relatives, and those who came to the facility from April 14 to May 4, asking them to inform their condition to the nearest medical facilities for medical supervision.

Deputy Director of the Ha Noi Department of Health Hoang Duc Hanh announced that the Department has recently sent an urgent document to district-level people’s committees to conduct tests on returnees from the facility.  

The Department also underlined the necessity to early review and make a list of patients, relatives, and people who were present at the facility from April 4 to May 5.

These people would be tested and are requested to stay at home 21 days since the last day they were present at the hospital and have health surveillance at places of residence in other seven days.

Those who display signs of suspected infections must be removed to medical facilities for timely treatment.
