In an effort to curb the COVID-19 pandemic in the new period, the Ha Noi Department of Health has issued a dispatch providing instructions on ensuring food safety for street food establishments. The content of the document asks street food sellers to fully and seriously comply with requirements on food safety as prescribed in the Law on Food Safety.

Accordingly, in addition to wearing masks and keeping at least one meter away from customers, vendors must pack the foodstuffs in boxes or sealed bags before delivering them to buyers.

Street food establishments must also prepare clean water and soaps for diners to wash their hands before eating. They are not allowed to serve more than 20 people at the same time in order to ensure a safe distance.

The People’s Committees of districts and towns in the capital city are responsible for directing foodservice providers, such as ready-made meal cooking facilities, collective kitchens, restaurants, hotels and canteens, to fully and strictly follow food safety requirements. Only the establishments that meet the prescribed requirements on food safety should be permitted to operate.
