VN’s Mid-Autumn Festival

VGP - In Viet Nam the Mid-Autumn Festival, known as Tet Trung Thu in Vietnamese, is the country’s second most important holiday, after Tet, the Vietnamese New Year. Tet Trung Thu usually takes place on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month.

Many shops on Hang Ma Street are introducing lanterns made by traditional craft villages nationwide

These days, large numbers of tourists are flocking to Hang Ma street in Ha Noi’s Old Quarter to view the charming decorations and toys on sale for the festival for kids.

The approach of Tet Trung Thu is signaled by the appearance of stands selling banh trung thu, or mooncakes, all over Viet Nam’s streets and hand-made products as lanterns, masks and lion heads are drawing special attention of foreigners who want to learn more of Vietnamese culture and traditional customs.

In addition, these lion dances are fascinating, and huge amounts of children, ranging from little kids to teenagers, take part.
