The flight VN456 departed from Ha Noi at 19:45 on December 16, and left Macau at 8:35 on December 17 (local time).

According to Vietnamese Consul General in Hong Kong and Macau Tran Thanh Huan, the new service will help meet the increasing travel demand between the two destinations and promote trade connectivity, cooperation and exchange between the Greater Bay Area (including Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau) and Viet Nam.

“With this new air route, I believe that more people in Macau and the Greater Bay Area as a whole will have chances to explore Ha Noi, and seek investment opportunities in Viet Nam,” he said.

He noted remarkable progress in Viet Nam-Macau ties in recent years. Two-way trade reached US$82.4 million in 2018, up 40.2% from the same time last year.

The trade value was estimated at US$73.2 million during January-October, a year-on-year increase of 2.4%.

Currently, Macau is running 15 investment projects in Viet Nam with total registered capital of US$151.6 million.

The newly launched route helps Viet Nam Airlines increase its total services to China to 18, and facilitate travel to areas in vicinity of Macau like Hong Kong, Guangzhou and Shenzhen.

Macau is one of the two special administrative regions of China in its Greater Bay Area – the connecting area between Hong Kong, Macau, and Guangdong.

Macau attracts tens of millions of visitors every year, not only thanks to its animated tourism options, shopping districts, and entertainment activities but also by its unique blend of Eastern-Western cultures, architectural styles, and cuisines.

The Ha Noi - Macau route is the 10th new route officially serviced by Viet Nam Airlines in 2019. This route will enhance Viet Nam Airlines’ flight network, increasing Viet Nam Airlines’ number of routes to China to 18 and the airline’s total number of routes in its network to more than 100.

With this new route, passengers can to not only visit Macau but can also conveniently visit nearby areas such as Hong Kong, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen. Afterward, passengers can travel back to Viet Nam via one of Viet Nam Airlines’ direct flights from these locations.
