The festival was kick-started with an incense-offering ritual in commemoration of Emperor Lý Thái Tổ who set up the imperial capital in Thăng Long (Hà Nội now) in 1010.

Many art performances were carried out to showcase the long-standing civilization of the Vietnamese nation and Thăng Long-Hà Nội as well.
