In a meeting held this morning to review the planning scheme for the Red River City, the Hà Nội People’s Committee reported that, in the working tour to the Republic of Korean made by Mayor Nguyễn Thế Thảo in late July, the governments of Hà Nội and Seoul inked an agreement on the second phase of the scheme.

Accordingly, competent bodies of the two sides will consider technical proposals raised in the general scheme (phase I).

Deputy PM Hoàng Trung Hải gave nod to the planning of the Red River section flowing through Hà Nội, stating that the work will help control floods and facilitate the capital city’s socio-economic development.

Under the plan made in phase I, Hà Nội will build and upgrade 75.5 km of dyke along the river banks; build over 80 km of riverside motorways; dredge 40 km of waterway; and build three new bridges.
