Social events suspended amidst growing coronavirus fears

VGP – A large number of tourist sites in Ha Noi have been closed amidst COVID-19 outbreaks.

The management board of the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum announced that visits to the site in Ha Noi’s Ba Dinh Square and the nearby monument dedicated to martyrs has been suspended starting from March 23.

The suspension is meant to focus efforts on the fight against the ravaging COVID-19, the board said, adding the visits will be resumed at a proper point of time.

Earlier, the Government Committee for Religious Affairs recommended churches and religious organizations not organize activities which will summon crowds; suspend annual congresses and festivals; not send people to religious activities in other countries; not receive visitors from other countries and territories especially those from pandemic-hit regions. 

These organizations were advised to promote online religious activities in order to avoid crowds. 

In addition, the local authorities also ordered a halt of the operation of the bars and karaoke parlours as well as music programs until the end of March./.
