The new road is about 29 kilometers long, starting from Km 182 300, where Phap Van-Cau Gie highway and the belt road No. 3 of Ha Noi intersect, to Km 211 256.
The upgraded highway will have six lanes and will serve 60,000 vehicles per day, doubling the current capacity of 30,000. It is expected to be completed in mid-2018 to enable vehicles to run at 100km per hour.
This VND 6,731 billion project is under BOT form. It is expected to be transferred after nearly 20 years.
According to the Ministry of Transport said that Phap Van-Cau Gie Highway with 4 lanes has been exploited since 2002.
This route is very important to the socio-economic development and to the national defense and security of the capital city and other northern provinces.
The upgraded highway would help ease traffic jam and reduce traffic accidents as well as improve road traffic system of key economic zones in the North.
Now, the four-lane Phap Van–Cau Gie highway carries the heaviest traffic flow in the northern region, with frequent traffic congestion.
