Pedestrian space around Hoan Kiem Lake officially launched
VGP – The Ha Noi municipal People ’ s Committee has officially launched a walking space around the Hoan Kiem (Returned Sword) Lake.

The pedestrian space covers streets namely Dinh Tien Hoang, Le Lai, Le Thach, Dinh Le, Nguyen Xi, Trang Tien, Hang Khay, Le Thai To, Lo Su, Hang Dau, Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc Square, Tran Nguyen Han, Hoan Kiem, Luong Van Can, Bao Khanh, Hang Hai from January 1, 2020.
The Hoan Kiem district People’s Committee was asked to work with relevant departments, sectors, and units to operate the pedestrian space.
After the trial period, the pedestrian zone has become a brand name and a highlight of the Capital City.
Over the past three years, the zone received 3,000-5,000 visitors during the daytime and 15,000-20,000 arrivals in the evenings.
Over 410 cultural events were held with the participation of 26 foreign embassies and 20 other localities.
The number of foreign tourists also increased sharply from over 1.3 million in 2016 to 2.3 million in 2019.
So far, Hoan Kiem district housed 176 travel agents, 586 hotels, and 12,000 rooms./.
