Over 9,400 new enterprises make debut in Jan-May period

VGP – In the first five months, over 9,420 enterprises have been founded in Ha Noi with a total registered capital of VND 97.5 billion, down 1% in number and up 36% in value in comparison with the same period last year.

The news was announced at a conference of the Ha Noi municipal People’s Committee on May 20 in Ha Noi. 

Chairman of the Ha Noi municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung assessed that the socio-economic performance was brighter in comparison with the same period last year. He also hoped to figure out measures to fulfill the preset goals for 2019. 

Director of Ha Noi’s Department of Planning and Investment Nguyen Manh Quyen reported that the business environment was improved and investment attraction was promoted. Online business registration was implemented. The city absorbed US$ 4.75 billion of FDI, leading the country by occupying 28.64% of registered capital. 

Total circulation of goods and services grew 10.4%. Total retail sales of goods and services picked up 10.8%. 

According to Mr. Quyen, in May, the consumption price index (CPI) increased by 4.1%, higher than the rate of 2.98% in the same period last year. 

The tourism sector was on the rice. The city welcomed 11.75 million guests, up 9.5% against the same period last year. The number of international arrivals was 2.89 million, representing a year-on-year increase of 10.3%. Total tourism revenue was estimated at VND 41.9 trillion, up 29.2% against the same period last year. 

However, the local agricultural production has been badly hit by the African swine fever. 

To fulfill the preset socio-economic development norms, the city will continue to extricate business and production difficulties and combat the ongoing African swine fever. The local authorities are proactively preparing for the Conference 2019 – Investment cooperation and development. 

Especially, the city will tighten State management of planning, urban construction, environmental protection; speed up progress of clean water supply projects and sewage treatment plants; and boost online public service coverage./.
