Over 12,700 smuggling cases discovered in H1

VGP – Over 12,700 cases of smuggling and counterfeiting of Vietnamese goods were punished in the first half of 2020 , representing a year-on-year increase of 14%, the Steering Committee against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit (Steering Committee 389) reported.

Up to 54 cases and 74 people involved  were put on trial. 

The total amount of tax collection and administrative fines valued nearly VND 1,750 billion. 

As of June 15, the Steering Committee 389 investigated and inspected 758 cases and imposed administrative sanctions on 318 cases on Covid-19 prevention. One case with four criminals was prosecuted. Total amount of fines on Covid-19 prevention valued VND 2.4 billion including 1.7 million of medical masks, 13,227 antiseptic hand sanitizer products; 4,551 alcohol products; 35,600 medical gloves, 1,597 protective gowns and scrubs, 185 protective goggles, 927 surgical gowns.

In the second half, the Steering Committee will seriously implement directions of the Government, the PM, and the National Steering Committee against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit. 

Heads of competent agencies, Chairpersons of district-level People’s Committees bear the responsibility for letting illegal trade and negative behaviors of public staff to occur./.
