National action month on population launched in HN
VGP – The Ha Noi Department of Health worked with the Long Bien district People’s Committee to launch a national action month on population and celebrate the Viet Nam Population Day (December 26, 2019) on December 12 in Ha Noi .

Mr. Hoang Duc Hanh, Deputy Director of the Department said that the Party and State have always attached importance to population work.
According to Mr. Hanh, population and family planning have made important contributions to socio-economic development of Ha Noi and the country.
In 2018, birth rate hit 15.13‰, down 0.17‰ in comparison with 2017. The rate of third child and above saw a decline of 6.6%, down 0.1% against 2017. The sex ratio at birth ranged of 113 boys for 100 girls. The prenatal screening rate was 76%.
In addition, a large number of high-quality population modals have been implemented including community-based elderly home care modal, juvenile reproductive health care modal, the consulting modal on pre-marriage medical check-up.
So far, the local population is in the period of ‘golden population’, which creates a favorable way for socio-economic development./.
