Shops selling necessities like food, medicines and fuel can stay open,  Chung said in a directive to local leaders Wednesday.

Karaoke parlors, bars, night clubs, and cinemas, either inner-city or on the outskirts, must be shut down.

Chairman Chung added that large gatherings like weddings and religious ceremonies with a large number of people should not be organized.

The Chairman suggested people wear face masks and practise social distancing.

The city will permit 20% of bus operation and recommend local residents to stay indoor.

Earlier, on March 13, Ha Noi had requested bars, karaoke parlors and tourist sites to close until the end of March.

As of March 26, Ha Noi recorded 50 Covid-19 cases out of Viet Nam’s total of 148. Of the country's figure, 17 have recovered and been discharged./.
