The eight-day exhibition in Hà Nội, from April 21 to May 1, received over 16,000 visitors. Especially, 84.5% people participating in the referendum voted for the master plan.

The questionnaires touch upon 15 key issues of orientations for spatial urban development; satellite urban areas and towns; social infrastructure planning; traffic planning; environment protection; heritage preservation; new rural areas; administrative area; and so on.

Conspicuously, public opinion reached a high consensus on the social infrastructure planning, then on green areas.

The scenario for national administrative area failed to satisfy Hanoians.

The exhibition draw much attention from every walk of life, including experts, laborers, and students, said Mr. Nguyễn Đình Toàn, Deputy Minister of Construction.

As scheduled, in May, the MoC will report the master plan to the Standing Committee of the National Assembly before submitting it to the competent body for approval.

With the total area of 3,300 sq.km, Hà is one of the largest capital cities in the world. However, strategic development plans and orientations are required to covert Hà Nội into a modern city that still preserves its thousand-year-old cultural values.

Under the plan, Hà Nội will have nuclear urban areas and five satellite urban areas - Hoà Lạc, Sơn Tây, Xuân Mai, Phú Xuyên-Phú Minh and Sóc Sơn.
