The Deputy Chairman made the point on August 17 at a meeting of the Steering Committee on COVID-19 Prevention and Control.

The local authorities have spared no effort to conduct PCR tests for all travellers coming back from Da Nang by August 20.

So far, the disease outbreak has been put under control. However, new cases in the community may appear and cross infection would occur at hospitals without effective prevention measures.

Hence, the Deputy Chairman tasked districts, communes, relevant departments and agencies to seriously enforce the directions on COVID-19 prevention and control.

He underlined the necessity to encourage people to avoid mass gatherings of over 30 people at public places; contact medical facilities if displaying symptoms. Especially, the elderly and people with chronic diseases should stay in door. People are recommended to only go out if necessary.

Restaurants, beverage stores, and coffee shops are requested to comply with regulations such as ensuring an one-meter safe distance, physical barriers, and checking customer’s temperature. These regulations will be put in place from August 19.

So far, Ha Noi confirmed ten community transmission cases.

From August 8-16, 50,602 PCR samples of travellers coming back from Da Nang were collected, of which 28,478 received negative tests.

Since July 25, 34 cases were verified including 11 community infections and 23 imported cases which were quarantined upon arrival.

So far, 542 people who had close contacts with COVID-19 patients (so-called F1) are being quarantined at hospitals. Other 3,239 people who had close contacts with them (commonly known as F2) are monitored at places of residence.

Statistics showed that up to 100,090 Hanoians travelled to Da Nang including 77,150 ones from July 15./.
