Local authorities tighten face mask wearing requirements

VGP – The local authorities of Ha Noi would definitively postpone public events if local people do not seriously comply with the regulations on face mask wearing at public places in an effort to combat COVID-19 outbreak, said Vice Chairman of Ha Noi People's Committee Ngo Van Quy.

The local leader made the point on October 21 in Ha Noi at a virtual meeting on COVID-19 prevention and control. 

Deputy Director of the municipal Health Department Hoang Duc Hanh was quoted as saying that the disease has been put under control in Viet Nam. 

Since August 17, Ha Noi has  confirmed zero new community infection cases. However, the city is facing risks of disease resurgence due to possible disease sources in the community, imported cases from commercial flights or illegal immigration, subjective psychology while winter is coming. 

Hence, Mr. Hanh underlined the necessity to stay vigilant in the COVID-19 pandemic. 

He stressed the top priority of wearing face masks at public places in accordance with the PM’s Directive 117/2020/ND-CP, dated September 28, governing fines in the healthcare sector.  

Director of the municipal Health Department Nguyen Khac Hien suggested local leaders, staff, and public servants to seriously wear face coverings; maintain social distancing meetings and conferences; use more online meetings.  

Vice Chairman Quy said that the local authorities of Ha Noi would definitively postpone public events if dwellers do not seriously comply with the regulations on face mask wearing at public places in an effort to combat COVID-19 outbreak.

In addition, local residents are requested to comply with 5K message to help citizens get used to living safely with the Covid-19 pandemic in a new normal circumstance./.
