Korea – VN concert to welcome New Year 2019


VGP - The Embassy of the Republic of Korea  coordinated with the Korean Foundation to organize a special Viet Nam-Korea concert on January 14 in Ha Noi, to welcome the New Year 2019.


The concert performed by the Korean Symphony Orchestra under the baton of conductor Chi Yong Chung, with soloist Sunyoung Seo (soprano), first prize winning vocalist of Tchaikovsky Competition.

In particular, the event drew the participation of People's Artist Dang Thai Son who was born in 1958 in a family of artistic tradition. His father was poet and musician Dang Dinh Hung and his mother was pianist Thai Thi Lien. He is the first Asian artist to win a gold medal at the International Piano Competition named Chopin, held in October 1980 in Warsaw, Poland.

This was the first time Son has performed with the orchestra from the Republic of Korea (RoK) under the leadership of conductor Chi-Yong Chung.

People's Artist Dang Thai Son has performed on famous stages such as Lincoln Center (New York, US), Barbican Center (London, England), Salle Pleyel (Paris, France), Herkulessaal (Munich, Germany), Musikverein (Vienna, Austria), and Concertgebouw (Amsterdam, the Netherlands).

The event kicked off a wide range of cultural and art exchange activities between the two countries during the year./.
