Int’l Chemistry Olympiad 2014 opens

VGP - The 46th annual International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) opened in Ha Noi on July 21 with more than 550 teachers and students from 77 countries and territories taking part.

In his opening speech, Minister of Education and Training Pham Vu Luan welcomed delegates, foreign and four Vietnamese students to the competition.
The hosting of IChO 2014 is a great honour of Viet Nam, showing the International Chemistry Olympiad’s trust in the country’s capability.
He assured contestants the best conditions to show off their talents.
Chairman of the IChO’s Steering Committee Peter Wothers hailed Viet Nam’s achievements of chemical studies. In the 1996 competition that the country joined for the first time with high rankings.
IChO has been held annually since 1968, except for 1971. This is the first time Viet Nam hosted the event.
