Indonesian glass paintings showcased

The exhibits are inspired from daily activities, folk arts, Islamic practices and festivals.

The paintings were donated to the museum in 2006 by Indonesian master of Pencak Silat O’ong Maryono (1953-2013) and his Italian wife Rosalia Sciortino, who share the love for Indonesian art of glass paintings.

Speaking at the event, VME Director Vo Quang Trong said that the exhibition on Indonesia’s glass paintings is the follow-up of a series of events featuring cultures of other Southeast Asian nations.

He also expressed his hope that the exhibition would bring to the visitors interesting explorations on the history, culture and society of Indonesia.

The event began on December 6, also aims to honour the donors and contribute to the establishment of the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community in 2015.

The event is part of a series of displays on Southeast Asian cultures to help Vietnamese people learn more about their neighbours in the region.
