Human lives top local authority’s priorities

VGP – Chairman of the Ha Noi municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung stressed that the local authorities regarded the task of protecting the lives of people as a top priority.

The Chairman made the point on March 16 in Ha Noi at a meeting of the Steering Committee on COVID-19 Prevention and Control.

Director of the Health Department reported that as of 3:00 PM, Ha Noi confirmed 11 positive cases. Seven cases have been reported from March 9-16 with no death recorded. All patients are being quarantined and treated at the No.2 facility of the National Hospital of Tropical Diseases in Kim Chung Commune. 

Of the 376 people who had direct contact with COVID-19 patients, 371 were tested with 364 negative. 

In addition, the local authorities locked down areas where there are COVID-19 suspected people. Specifically, at Truc Bach street, 66 households with 189 people are being locked down. Hong Ngoc Hospital isolated 121 people. At Nguyen Khac Nhu Street, three households with four people are being separated. Nine families with 25 people at 165 Lane Cau Giay Street, and eight apartments with five people at Nui Truc Street are being quarantined. The city also sprayed disinfectant at the COVID patients’ residences. 

From March 15, the city has applied medical quarantine and medical declaration for all passengers who came from countries in the Schengen area, the UK, North Ireland, Iran, and the RoK. 

As of mid-March 16, 826 passengers who came from infected regions landed at Noi Bai Airport were transferred to centralized isolation areas. 

The city prepared additional six hospitals, 200 ventilation machines, and 18 negative-pressure rooms. 

The local authorities have stockpiled adequate food, foodstuff, essential commodities for people and ensured stable supplies in any case./.
