Over 20,600 newly-established enterprises

Director of the Ha Noi Department of Planning and Investment Nguyen Manh Quyen reported that the socio-economic development performance was optimistic in the first ten months of 2017.

In addition, investment attraction had good outcomes. In October, the city examined 16 non-budget capital projects worth over VND 38 trillion and ratified six others valuing VND 18 trillion. 

So far, the city received 128 PPP projects of which eight were finalized with total investment of VND 13 trillion.

Regarding FDI investment, in the first ten months, the city absorbed over US$ 2.234 billion of FDI, meeting 67.7% of plan. Over 450 foreign investors purchased US$ 527.1 million of stocks from Vietnamese companies. 

In the January-October period, 20,634 enterprises were founded with a total register capital of VND 164.3 trillion, up 9% in number and down 3% in registered capital. The total operational businesses was 227,542. Meanwhile, 3,020 enterprises resumed operation. Up to 98% of business registration dossiers were conducted online. 

Positive tourism surge

The local tourism industry recorded a breaking growth pace, becoming a spearhead economy which is able to compete and contribute to Ha Nois development. 

Recently, in the MasterCard Global Destinations Cities Index 2017, the Capital City of Ha Noi was named in the list of the world’s fastest-growing tourism cities, since it posted a 16.4% average annual growth rate in the 2009 - 2016 period.

In October, 315,000 foreign visitors stayed in Ha Noi, up 18.9% against September and 41.1% against the same period last year. The city also welcomed 860,000 domestic guests, representing a month-on-month surge of 2.4% and year-on-year growth of 3.7%. Tourism revenue was estimated at VND 5.3 trillion, up 3.5% against the previous month and 11.7% against the same period last year. 

Striving for preset goals for 2017

The Ha Noi municipal People’s Committee pledged to accomplish all socio-economic development norms in 2017; especially accelerating circulation of goods and services; spurring export; attracting investment; putting an end to the dengue fever epidemic; and handling flood. 

Especially, in the rest two months, the local authorities will support local businesses; extricate difficulties in capital and market; and properly prepare for the business conference scheduled on mid-November. 

In addition, the city will handle investment procedures on budget and non-budget projects; stimulate  investment demand in the year end; and perfect mechanisms to encourage all economic components to invest, manage, and engage in urban infrastructure development./.
