HN to relocate Old Quarters residents for preservation

VGP – Hà Nội will need around 40.6 ha of land and almost VND 4.3 trillion to relocate residents from the Old Quarters in Hoàn Kiếm district for a conservation project.

The scheme is intended to improve urban environment in the Old Quarters and facilitate the preservation of Hà Nội’s ancient streets.

Located in Hoàn Kiếm district’s 10 wards, the ancient streets now have a total population of around 66,660 people or 840 people per hectare.

Under the scheme approved until 2020, 26,200 people will be relocated.

Under the first phase of the scheme, around 7,200 people will move from the Old Quarters to the newly-built Việt Hưng residential area in Long Biên district./.
