Free wi-fi coverage to be offered ahead of National Day

VGP – The Viet Nam Posts and Telecommunications Group will provide free wi-fi service at ten important avenues around Hoan Kiem (Returned Sword) Lake ahead of the National Day (September 9).

The aforesaid areas include the Ha Noi Department for Foreign Affairs, Ha Noi Post, the Market Management Department, the Drama Centre of Ha Noi, the seven-floor building at No. 45 Hang Dau Street; the third-floor building at Lo Su Street; buildings at No. 1-3-5 Dinh Tien Hoang Street; Hong Van – Long Van building; Ho Guom Cultural Central; and the Public Security Office of Hoan Kiem District.

After that, VNPT Ha Noi will install 13 wi-fi transmitters  at other hotspots before September 20, 2016.

Accordingly, pedestrian streets around Hoan Kiem Lake and adjacent areas will be able to access to free wireless internet signals under the approval of the Ha Noi municipal People’s Committee.

Once the wi-fi network is up, users will be able to access the internet via the name Freewifi_UBNDHANOI for up to 30 minutes. For a longer connection, users will have to log out of the network and log in again.

Earlier, Chairman of Ha Noi’s People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung said at a meeting on August 4 that Ha Noi will install public wi-fi hotspots around the city to help citizens keep up to date with traffic across the capital. To start with, Ha Noi will install wi-fi transmitters at tourist attractions and popular spaces.

The city’s largest bus operator, Transerco, is working to install wi-fi devices on 200 buses after providing free wi-fi on its shuttle buses running from Ha Noi Station to Noi Bai International Airport./.
