HN tightens control of drug addicts

VGP – The Ha Noi municipal People’s Committee issued Plan 31/KH-UBND to tighten management of drug addiction and post- addiction treatment in the 2017-2020 period.

The plan aimed to restrain the increasing number of new addicts; ensure social security and order; support them to re-integrate into the community; diversify types of community-based treatment; and encourage vulnerable drug treatment.

By 2020, 100% of drug addicts will have management records. Up to 17,700 addicts will be treated. Over 2,500 people will get compulsory drug treatment. Vulnerable treatment service will cover 8,000 people. Around 6,000 people will be treated with methadone. Over 1,200 addicts will be detoxified at their families.

In addition, under the plan, all drug addicts will be counselled on jobs. And, over 1,200 addicts will be allowed to attend vocational training courses./.
