Statistics showed that the sex ratio at birth in Ha Noi remains high in comparison with national average rate. Last year, Ha Noi’s sex ratio at birth was 114 boys per 100 girls. Meanwhile, the national average rate was 112.7 boys per 100 girls.

As of May 31, 2017, the rate in Ha Noi was reduced to 113.1 boys per 100 girls.

However, the rate was unequal in Thuong Tin, Ba Vi, Ha Dong, Ung Hoa, Son Tay and Soc Son districts in which sex ratio at birth was over 115 boys per 100 girls.

Earlier, the Ha Noi People’s Committee issued Plan 208/KH-UBND on controlling sex imbalance at birth in the 2016-2025 period at 107 boys per 100 girls.

The city conducted campaigns on population and family planning to minimize sex ratio imbalance at birth and conducted investigations at districts with high rates of sex imbalance at birth and reduce sex selection./.
