HN spends over US$ 474 bln for Covid-19 affected people

VGP – Over 99.9% of people with merits , social beneficiaries, poor and near-poor households have received a total sum of VND 474 billion (nearly US$ 28.4 million) to overcome difficulties stemming from the Covid-19 pandemic.

Chairman of the Ha Noi municipal Peoples Committee Nguyen Duc Chung presided over a video-teleconference to review operation of the local authorities in May and the first five months of 2020. 

Director of the Ha Noi Department of Planning and Investment Nguyen Manh Quyen reported a new normalcy status.’ Almost all production and business indicators saw month-on-month increases in May but experienced year-on-year declines or slight growths. 

Specifically, industrial production index (IPI) witnessed a month-on-month increase of 12.3% and a year-on-year growth of 1.5% in April. In the first five months, IPI grew 2.6%. Up to 25 out of 46 key industrial products saw output increases.

Total retail sales of goods and services picked up 20.9% against April and 7.7% against the same period last year. In the January-May period, the figure jumped 3.3%.

Export turnover experienced a month-on-month increase of 4.7% and a year-on-year decrease of 13.7%. Total export turnover suffered a drop of 8.5% in the first five months in comparison with the same period last year. 

Number of tourists also plunged 65.5% including a 64.8% drop in number of foreign visitors. 

In the January-May period, budget collection was estimated at VND 102 trillion, meeting 36.9% of estimates, equivalent to 94.9% of the same period last year. 

The city’s rankings in the Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) and Public Administration Reform (PAR) Index were positive by scoring 68.8 points and 84.64 points, respectively. Hence, Ha Noi ranked ninth in PCI and second in PAR Index. 

In the reviewed period, the Capital absorbed over US$ 1.05 billion of FĐI and VND 9.1 trillion of domestic capital (US$ 404 million). Up to 12,260 enterprises were founded with a total registered capital of VND 181 trillion, down 10% in number but up 9% in value. Over 1,200 enterprises were dissolved, representing a year-on-year increase of 25%. Mover 7,000 enterprises registered temporary suspension, up 49%. Over 3,600 others resumed operation, up 24% against the same period last year.
