HN serves as driving force for Northern Key Economic Zone
VGP – Ha Noi has affirmed its role and position as the driving force for the Northern Key Economic Zone and made important contribution to the national economy, said Chairman of Ha Noi municipal People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung.

Chairman Chung made the point on June 25 at the Conference on Northern Key Economic Zone Development which was chaired by PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Deputy PMs.
Mr. Chung who is also the Chairman of the Northern Key Economic Zone Council reported that provinces and cities in the region have built and planned the master schemes on regional socio-economic development.
Ha Noi successfully chaired a conference on Northern Key Economic Zone Development in 2016 and another on “Ha Noi investment and development cooperation” in 2018.
Chairman Chung stressed that Ha Noi continued to serve as the impetus for the Northern Key Economic Zone and make increasing contribution to the national economy.
The city accounted for 21.2% of regional area, 41.7% of population, 51.1% of GRDP, 54.1% of budget, 20.3% of export.
In the 2016-2018 period, total development investment hit VND 927 trillion, accounting for 36.4% of GRDP.
Ha Noi's Public administrative reform index (PAR Index) ranked second out of 63 provinces and cities.
Ha Noi’s Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) was positioned at the 9th place out of 63 localities.
The Satisfaction Index of Public Administration Services (SIPAS) jumped 16 notches.
Chairman Chung took the occasion to suggest the PM, relevant ministries and agencies to early research a regional master scheme in the 2021-2030.
The Chairman also stressed the importance of accelerating economic restructuring and transformation of growth modal in accordance with the Northern Key Economic Zone; optimizing potentials and advantages of every locality./.
